Deloitte Sri Lanka Highlights Emerging Sustainability Priorities for Business Leaders

September 14, 2026

Deloitte Sri Lanka recently brought together senior business leaders and sustainability professionals for an exclusive forum aimed at examining emerging sustainability priorities and their growing significance for businesses.

Held under the theme “Beyond Compliance: Unlocking Strategic Value Through Sustainability,” the forum focused on how organisations can move beyond meeting regulatory requirements and integrate sustainability into their broader business strategies.

The discussions highlighted the evolving sustainability landscape and the increasing need for businesses to respond proactively to environmental, social and governance (ESG) considerations. Participants explored how sustainability can be incorporated into decision-making to strengthen organisational resilience, manage emerging risks and create long-term value.

The forum also provided insights into developments in sustainability reporting and disclosure, including evolving regulatory expectations and the growing importance of climate-related information for businesses and investors. Deloitte has previously highlighted developments in Sri Lanka relating to SLFRS S1 and S2, as well as broader climate-policy and regulatory changes.

Deloitte Sri Lanka emphasised that sustainability is increasingly becoming a strategic business priority rather than simply a compliance obligation. Organisations that integrate sustainability into their operations and long-term strategies can be better positioned to respond to changing market expectations and emerging risks.

The forum served as a platform for business leaders to exchange perspectives, identify key challenges and explore practical approaches to embedding sustainability across their organisations.

As global sustainability expectations continue to evolve, the discussions reinforced the importance of proactive leadership, effective governance and strategic action in helping businesses build more resilient and sustainable growth models.
