Alumex PLC, a member of the Hayleys Group and one of Sri Lanka’s leading aluminium extrusion manufacturers, has secured the Bronze Award in the ‘Best AI Solution in Manufacturing & Industry 5.0’ category at the National AI Awards 2026. The award ceremony was held on 30 September under the auspices of the Ministry of Digital Economy, recognising the company’s innovative use of artificial intelligence (AI) and data analytics in manufacturing.

The recognition highlights Alumex’s implementation of an AI-powered Extruder Production Monitoring System and a Smart Real-Time Energy Monitoring and Analytics System, incorporating an AI-driven Golden Batch solution for extrusion digitisation. These technologies are designed to strengthen production monitoring, improve manufacturing consistency and enhance energy management across the company’s operations.

The AI-powered Golden Batch system analyses production data to identify variations in manufacturing processes and support greater consistency between production batches. By providing real-time visibility into extrusion operations and performance, the system enables the company to make faster, data-driven decisions and improve overall production efficiency.

Meanwhile, the Smart Real-Time Energy Monitoring and Analytics System tracks energy consumption throughout the manufacturing process. This allows Alumex to identify potential inefficiencies, optimise energy usage and make informed decisions to improve operational performance. The initiative also supports the company’s broader efforts to advance resource efficiency and responsible manufacturing practices.
