Sri Lanka Promotes Expo 2027 Through Business Outreach Programme in the United Kingdom
The Sri Lanka Export Development Board (EDB), in collaboration with the Sri Lanka High Commission in the United Kingdom, has organised a promotional programme in London on 21 and 22 October 2026 to promote Sri Lanka Expo 2027 and encourage greater participation from UK-based businesses.
The programme is designed to strengthen Sri Lanka’s trade and investment ties with the United Kingdom while positioning the country as a reliable and competitive business partner. The scheduled activities include a Business and Investment Forum, a networking session with British buyers, investors, trade chambers and business promotion organisations on 21 October, followed by bilateral business meetings on 22 October.
The initiative aims to showcase Sri Lankan products and services, identify new export diversification opportunities and encourage British companies to explore sourcing, investment and business partnership prospects in Sri Lanka. It also seeks to strengthen commercial relationships between the two countries by facilitating direct engagement between Sri Lankan representatives and prospective UK business partners.
An official Sri Lankan delegation, headed by Wasantha Samarasinghe, Minister of Trade, Commerce, Food Security and Cooperative Development, was scheduled to visit the UK to participate in the programme. The delegation was expected to include senior representatives from the Ministry of Industry and Entrepreneurship Development, the EDB and the Board of Investment of Sri Lanka.
Sri Lanka Expo 2027, scheduled to take place from 14 to 17 January 2027 in Colombo, will serve as an international platform for showcasing the country’s export capabilities and investment potential. The exhibition is expected to connect Sri Lankan exporters with international buyers, investors and business stakeholders, creating opportunities for commercial partnerships and market expansion.
Through this outreach programme, Sri Lanka aims to increase international awareness of its export industries, strengthen bilateral economic cooperation and attract greater participation from UK businesses at the upcoming exhibition. The initiative is also expected to support efforts to expand export opportunities and promote Sri Lanka as an attractive destination for international trade and investment.
