EDB Establishes Sri Lanka’s First-Ever National Pavilion at Fine Food Australia 2026

The Sri Lanka Export Development Board (EDB), in collaboration with the Consulate General of Sri Lanka in Melbourne, has successfully organised Sri Lanka’s first-ever national pavilion at Fine Food Australia 2026, held from August 31 to September 3 at the Melbourne Convention and Exhibition Centre (MCEC).

The landmark initiative marked an important step in strengthening Sri Lanka’s presence in the Australian food and beverage market, while providing local exporters with a dedicated platform to showcase their products, engage with international buyers and explore new commercial opportunities.

Covering 90 square metres, the Sri Lanka Pavilion featured 12 food and beverage companies, representing both established exporters and emerging small and medium-sized enterprises. The participating companies showcased a diverse portfolio of Sri Lankan products, including Ceylon Tea and coffee, Ceylon Cinnamon and spices, coconut-based products, processed foods and beverages, seafood and processed fishery products, bakery products, frozen foods, fruits, rice-based beverages, natural and herbal products, and other value-added food products.

The participating companies were Akbar Brothers (Pvt) Ltd, Perera and Sons Bakers (Pvt) Ltd, Link Natural Products (Pvt) Ltd, Coconut Taprobane (Pvt) Ltd, Sobako Products (Pvt) Ltd, Derana Marketing Services (Pvt) Ltd, K & D Foods International (Pvt) Ltd, HJS Condiments Limited, Ocean Foods Manufacturing (Pvt) Ltd, Saya International Tea and Food Exports (Pvt) Ltd, Tradlanka Agricultural Enterprises (Pvt) Ltd and Ceylon Coco Infresh (Pvt) Ltd.

The pavilion was officially inaugurated by the Consul General of Sri Lanka in Melbourne, together with representatives of the EDB, Sri Lankan chamber associations in Melbourne and participating companies.

Throughout the four-day exhibition, the Sri Lanka Pavilion attracted interest from Australian and international importers, distributors, retailers, foodservice operators and other industry professionals. Participating exporters had the opportunity to engage in business-to-business discussions, introduce their products to prospective buyers and explore potential partnerships in market access, distribution and sourcing.

Fine Food Australia 2026 also provided a platform to highlight Sri Lanka’s capabilities in value-added food processing, quality production and sustainably produced food products. The participation further contributed to enhancing the visibility of Sri Lankan brands and product identities within the Australian market.

Sri Lanka’s presence at the exhibition extended beyond the national pavilion, with several other Sri Lankan companies participating independently. Together, these efforts helped strengthen the visibility of Sri Lankan food and beverage products through institutional and social media channels.

The EDB acknowledged the support extended by the Consulate General of Sri Lanka in Melbourne, participating exporters, Sri Lankan chambers and other stakeholders in making the initiative a success.

The successful participation is expected to support ongoing efforts to expand Sri Lanka’s food and beverage exports to Australia, strengthen international business linkages and create new market opportunities for Sri Lankan exporters across Australia and the wider Asia-Pacific region.

The EDB said it will continue to facilitate market development initiatives and participation in international trade fairs, with the aim of connecting Sri Lankan exporters with global buyers and supporting sustainable export growth.
