By Lahiru Batagoda | Automotive & Insurance
Associated Motorways (AMW) has entered into a strategic partnership with Orient Insurance to introduce an extended warranty programme for Suzuki vehicles in Sri Lanka, enhancing aftersales value and long-term ownership confidence for customers.
The collaboration, formalised through a Memorandum of Understanding, will extend the standard manufacturer warranty on Suzuki vehicles purchased through AMW from three years or 100,000 kilometres to five years or 150,000 kilometres, effective from 1 May 2026.
Strengthening Customer Confidence
The initiative reflects a broader effort by both organisations to improve customer experience in Sri Lanka’s automotive market, where aftersales service and ownership reliability continue to influence purchasing decisions.
By combining AMW’s automotive distribution and aftersales capabilities with Orient Insurance’s expertise in protection and risk management, the partnership introduces a more comprehensive ownership package for Suzuki customers.
The extended warranty programme is expected to provide vehicle owners with increased peace of mind while reinforcing trust in the Suzuki brand within the local market.
Synergies Within the Al-Futtaim Group
Both AMW and Orient Insurance operate under the Al-Futtaim Group, enabling closer integration between automotive and financial services.
Industry observers note that such collaborations are becoming increasingly important in competitive vehicle markets, where manufacturers and distributors are focusing not only on sales, but also on long-term customer retention and service differentiation.
The partnership demonstrates how cross-sector synergies can be leveraged to deliver enhanced value-added services to consumers.
Leadership and Industry Participation
Senior representatives from both organisations attended the signing ceremony, including AMW Managing Director Jawahar Ganesh and Orient Insurance Managing Director and CEO Tanuj Edward, alongside other senior officials.
Their participation highlighted the strategic importance of the initiative as both companies continue to expand their customer-focused offerings in Sri Lanka.
Evolving Automotive Market Expectations
The introduction of extended warranty coverage comes at a time when consumers are placing greater emphasis on reliability, maintenance support, and total ownership value.
Extended warranty programmes are increasingly viewed as a competitive advantage within the automotive industry, particularly in markets where long-term vehicle durability and servicing costs are major considerations for buyers.
For Suzuki customers, the enhanced coverage is expected to improve ownership confidence while strengthening AMW’s position within Sri Lanka’s automotive sector.
Outlook
The partnership between AMW and Orient Insurance signals a growing shift toward integrated mobility and protection solutions in Sri Lanka’s automotive market.
As competition intensifies and customer expectations evolve, value-added aftersales initiatives such as extended warranties are likely to become a key differentiator for automotive brands seeking long-term customer loyalty and market growth.
