JAT Holdings Positions ACL for Bangladesh’s Next Growth Phase with Strategic Site Acquisition in Singair
JAT Holdings PLC has reinforced its long-term commitment to Bangladesh through the acquisition of a strategically located site in Singair by its Bangladesh subsidiary, Asia Coatings Limited (ACL), marking another significant step in the Group’s regional expansion strategy. The move is expected to enhance ACL’s manufacturing and distribution capabilities while supporting future business growth in one of JAT Holdings’ most important overseas markets.
Bangladesh has emerged as a key contributor to JAT Holdings’ regional operations, generating approximately 30% of the Group’s total revenue on average. Since entering the market in 2001, the company has steadily strengthened its footprint through investments in manufacturing, backward vertical integration, market development, and long-standing customer partnerships. Today, ACL holds the leading position in Bangladesh’s industrial wood coatings market, supported by a strong portfolio of premium wood coating brands.
The newly acquired site in Singair, located approximately 35 kilometres from Dhaka in the Manikganj District, will complement ACL’s existing manufacturing facilities, including its alkyd resin plant. The location provides direct access to key industrial customers and major transport routes, enabling faster deliveries, improved inventory management, and greater operational efficiency across the supply chain.
The investment comes as Bangladesh’s construction industry is projected to return to a stronger growth trajectory, with forecasts indicating average annual expansion of around 6.3% between 2026 and 2029. Continued investments in infrastructure, transportation, and industrial development are expected to drive demand for wood coatings and related manufacturing products, creating new opportunities for ACL to expand its market presence.
Commenting on the acquisition, JAT Holdings PLC Chief Executive Officer Nishal Ferdinando said Bangladesh remains one of the Group’s most strategically important markets, emphasizing that long-term success requires strengthening operational capacity, resilience, and infrastructure beyond short-term sales performance. He noted that the Singair investment reflects the company’s commitment to building a stronger foundation for sustainable growth in the country.
JAT Holdings Director and Country Head for Bangladesh Shamara Wanniarachchi said the new site would enable the company to better integrate manufacturing, warehousing, and customer servicing functions. She added that the strategic location would improve inventory planning, accelerate response times, and strengthen operational coordination while supporting future expansion in line with growing market demand.
The acquisition aligns with JAT Holdings’ broader regional growth strategy of expanding capacity in established markets where the Group already enjoys strong market leadership and long-term growth potential. As Bangladesh continues to play a pivotal role in the company’s international operations, the Singair development is expected to position ACL for its next phase of expansion while further strengthening JAT Holdings’ presence in South Asia.
