ri Lanka will initiate a competitive bidding process to select a new operation and maintenance (O&M) contractor for the Ceylon Electricity Board’s ‘Thambapavahini’ wind farm, announced Cabinet spokesperson Minister Bandula Gunawardena.
The previous three-year O&M contract with Vestas Wind Lanka (Pvt) Limited concluded in May this year.
“Therefore, it is necessary to choose a new service provider for these functions,” stated Minister Gunawardena.
“Accordingly, the Cabinet has approved the proposal put forward by the Minister of Power and Energy to select a suitable service provider through a competitive procurement process.”
Located on Mannar Island along Sri Lanka’s northwest coast, Thambapavani stands as the country’s largest wind farm.
