n educational initiative aimed at equipping final-year undergraduates from the Faculty of Agriculture at Wayamba University with essential knowledge and skills to contribute actively to the agricultural sector’s development recently took place at the Agricultural Research and Training Institute of Sri Lanka.
Organized in collaboration with SANASA Idiriye (SANASA Forward), a program envisioned by SANASA group founder Dr. P.A. Kiriwandeniya, the event was attended by esteemed dignitaries including Dr. Kiriwandeniya himself, the Chancellor of Wayamba University, Prof. W.D. Lakshman, Director of SANASA Campus, and Prof. Jagath Edirisinghe, Dean of the Faculty of Agriculture. Executives from SANASA Life Insurance, SANASA General Insurance, and other SANASA Group members were also present.
The primary objective of this initiative was to empower high-achieving students by enhancing their skills and knowledge, thereby preparing them for successful entrepreneurial careers after graduation. During the program, students benefited from insights that strengthen their academic foundation and foster career success.
Addressing the gathering, Dr. Kiriwandeniya emphasized Sri Lanka’s role in the global landscape, stressing the need for integration and leveraging technology in today’s interconnected world.
“In this era of technological advancement, we can no longer afford to isolate ourselves. The younger generation bears a significant responsibility as global citizens,” he remarked.
Dr. Kiriwandeniya also highlighted SANASA Group’s commitment to supporting students through internship opportunities and long-term employment across its 14 companies, including SANASA Life Insurance and SANASA General Insurance, reinforcing their dedication to nurturing future talent in Sri Lanka’s national universities.
