ndia has donated spare parts valued at 1.2 million USD to Sri Lanka’s Coast Guard for use in a vessel previously gifted by India, according to the Indian High Commission in Colombo.
“The delivery of this significant consignment of spare parts underscores India’s commitment to bolstering maritime security capabilities in the region,” the Indian High Commission stated.
The spare parts were delivered by the Indian Coast Guard Ship Sachet, an offshore patrol vessel, during its two-day visit to Sri Lanka.
The spare parts were formally handed over to the Sri Lanka Coast Guard Ship Suraksha, which India had gifted to Sri Lanka in October 2017.
India had previously provided spare parts for the ship in June 2021 and April 2022, and assisted in refilling Halon cylinders in January 2024.
