Keerthi Gunawardane has been re-appointed as the President of the Federation of Chambers of Commerce and Industry of Sri Lanka (FCCISL) at the recent Annual General Meeting held at the Organisation of Professional Associations of Sri Lanka (OPA).

FCCISL recognized Gunawardane’s outstanding leadership and dedication with this re-appointment, marking a continuation of dynamic leadership at the Federation.

Under Gunawardane’s guidance, FCCISL has successfully initiated and led various projects to support Sri Lanka’s Micro, Small, and Medium Enterprises (MSMEs). His work with the Skills for Inclusive Growth (S4IG) program, funded by Australian Aid, has notably advanced the small hotels and home stay sectors.

Established in 1973, FCCISL is the largest apex business organization in Sri Lanka, representing over 25,000 businesses through more than 63 chambers of commerce and business associations across the country.

Gunawardane holds an Economics degree from the University of Sri Jayewardenepura, with additional postgraduate qualifications in Business and Financial Administration from the Institute of Chartered Accountants of Sri Lanka, and specializations in Hypermedia Engineering and Multimedia Technology from Colombo University.

In expressing his gratitude, Gunawardane stated, “I am honored to be re-appointed as FCCISL President. Building on past successes, my focus will be on empowering our member chambers and navigating the challenges of the post-COVID-19 economic landscape to drive growth and development.”

His distinguished career includes past leadership roles such as President of the Sri Lanka Association of Printers and Chairman of the International Chamber of Commerce Sri Lanka. Currently, he also chairs the Advisory Committee on Trade Information and Promotion at the Export Development Board and serves on several other boards.

Gunawardane’s strategic vision for FCCISL includes planning one of Sri Lanka’s largest exhibitions, the South Asia Trade Fair, aimed at showcasing local and regional business opportunities.
