ead coach Chris Silverwood has stepped down for personal reasons, Sri Lanka Cricket announced, just days after Mahela Jayewardene’s departure.
“Being an international coach involves extended time away from loved ones. After long discussions with my family and with a heavy heart, I feel it’s time for me to return home and spend quality time with them,” Silverwood said in a statement released by Sri Lanka Cricket.
“I want to thank the players, coaches, backroom staff, and SLC management for their support during my tenure in Sri Lanka. Without your backing, our successes wouldn’t have been possible.
“It has been a true honor to be a part of Sri Lanka Cricket, and I leave with many cherished memories,” Silverwood added.
During his time as head coach, the national team won the T20 Asia Cup in 2022 and reached the finals of the 50-over Asia Cup in 2023, according to SLC.
