ccording to data from the Coconut Development Authority, Sri Lanka’s average coconut prices increased by 1.5 percent to 77,314 rupees per 1,000 nuts at an auction held on June 13.
Coconut prices at the weekly auction rose by 20 percent compared to May.
At the June 13 auction, the highest price reached 86,200 rupees per 1,000 nuts, up from 82,700 rupees, while the lowest price dropped to 66,000 rupees from 67,000 rupees.
Out of 844,787 coconuts offered at the auction, 732,443 were sold.
In the week leading up to June 13, wholesale prices ranged from 95 to 110 rupees for large nuts and 85 to 90 rupees for small nuts.
Farmgate prices in Kurunegala were between 72,000 and 75,000 rupees per 1,000 nuts.
Coconut oil prices were between 570,000 and 610,000 rupees per metric ton, while coconut shells were priced between 32,000 and 34,000 rupees per metric ton.
