A day after seven directors resigned from Lanka Hospitals in an unexplained move, some of them were re-appointed on Tuesday by the hospital group – again without explanation to shareholders and the investing public.
On Tuesday, the company said H. A. C. Siriwardena, Dr. Anil Abeywickrema, Ms. Uma Rajamanthri and Prof. Dilani Lokuhetty were re-appointed to the board, a few days (May 9) after they resigned. No explanation for the about-turn of events was given by the company.
The others who resigned but were not re-appointed are Keith Bernard, N.J. Munasinghe and Dr. Lalith Wijesundera.
The other directors of the company are Dr. Sarath Paranavitane – Chairman, Ven. Thiniyawala Palitha Thero, Daljit Singh, K. K. Sundaram Srivastava, T. L. Weeratne and Jayantha Munasinghe (recently appointed on March 20, 2017). On Tuesday, Aruna Siriwardena was appointed as a new independent director.
