It has been identified that certain amendments need to be made to the Companies Act No. 07 of 2007, in a bid to develop Sri Lanka’s investment opportunities and to maintain Sri Lanka’s Trade Index at a higher level.
Accordingly, the Cabinet approved a proposal by Minister of Industries and Trade Rishard Bathiutheen to affect amendments to clauses 5, 9 and 10 of the Companies Act No. 07 of 2007, thus enabling the Registrar of Companies to provide certain details of relevant companies and announce to the public the incorporation of a new company, to remove the necessity of a public notice of the incorporation of such a company and also enabling the Registrar of Companies to order a particular company to change its name.
